Shami Tree
Common Name: Shami Tree
Botanical Name: Prosopis cineraria
Availability: In Stock
A thorny desert tree with deeply fissured bark and feathery, grey- green foliage that droops delicately from the ends of branches.
It is a small thorny, irregularly branched tree, 5-10 in high. Evergreen or nearly so, it forms an open crown and has thick, rough grey bark with deep fissures.
Superbly adapted to Delhi's ecology, this is a characteristic native tree of the region, though it struggles in the thin soil of the Ridge . It is not cultivated anywhere in the city and is in real danger of disappearing.
